Mini-Break Heaven at Bellinter House.

Bellinter house - The East Wing.

To say I was excited to book a night at Bellinter House is an understatement. I have been dying to stay here for the last few years, and when an opportunity arose for me and my husband to escape the kids and stay mid week we jumped at it!

About a 1.45h drive from Belfast and less than an hour from Dublin, this boutique hotel offers everything you could want from a mini-break or wedding venue. A fabulous spa, stunning decor, tasty grub and views to die for.

I love a hotel stay, but if the interior is on-point it seals the deal for me, and everything about the decor at Bellinter is so utterly cool. From the dark blue games room, unique furniture and amazing floor tiles that will make you re think every design decision you have ever made.

We stayed in the East Wing, which was has walls about half a metre thick, minimal white decor and a gorgeous view out the front of the house.  You know that feeling when you first open the door to your hotel room, not quite knowing what to expect.... and the satisfaction of being thrilled with it hits you in the face as you sink into your super comfy bed, imagining how much RELAXING is about to happen. Yep that, and then some. To be fair 24 hours without children is enough to make most parents feel like they have had a week in the caribbean. Within 30 seconds I already had my robe on, had scoped out where the spa was and was on my way for back massage.

We had pre-booked a meal at The Eden restaurant ( it was part of our package so make sure you check out their offers before booking.), and I must admit as a vegan I was a little nervous but they pulled it out of the bag with fig cappacio starter,  roast veg and tofu main and sorbet to finish. The staff were very accommodating about my dietary requirements and brought me soya milk to my room for the all important cuppa. Being honest I can't remember what my husband ordered but I know he enjoyed it!

You can also eat at the bar in the main hotel which would be nice for lunch the next day. Overall I found the staff to be incredibly helpful and noting was any trouble. The decor is top notch and the spa was a delight so if you are considering a mini-break / girls weekend  or even as a wedding venue I couldn't recommend it enough.

The next wedding showcase is on Sunday 23rd April 2-5pm, so if you are still venue hunting I would get yourself down there pronto. You can also check out this STUNNING wedding shot there by Chris Copeland.

Otherwise just find an excuse and GO!
